At the end of the day, a great culture provides results. While attending Disney Institute on customer experience, I learned of their simple formula:
Culture = Behavior
Behavior = Results
Therefore, Culture = Results
Defining and constructing a deliberate culture impacts people’s behavior. When employees are presented a company’s values and a clear vision, appropriate behavior is established. When everyone eventually behaves the same way, a desired culture will be born.
Let’s face it, everyone wants to be a part of something special. They want to win and get results. It’s defeating to go to work at a dying organization. In Jim Collin’s book, Good to Great, Jim proved that companies with great cultures and leaders outperform their competitors by double digits.
Those owners who think this culture thing is nothing but fluff and pixie dust, look out. More and more companies are starting to get it and will eat your lunch. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.
