Business Leadership and Love, Part 1: Is love really the remedy?

Wednesday, February 24, 2016 - Joe Kiedinger

For the next four weeks I will be sharing with you Wisdom from great companies I have studied. I call it Business Leadership and Love series as love is a common principle.

Is love really the remedy for disengaged employees?

Last summer the Zac Brown band was at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI. Danica and I decided to go. Before Zac, I was not a declared country music fan. However, because his music is so catchy and his lyrics so sincere and cleverly written… I’m hooked.

One of his newer songs is “Love is the Remedy.” It reminds my of the values I learned from Southwest Airlines, “the airline love built”, is their motto. They use the heart on their planes and in advertising and they’re stock ticker symbol is LUV. Talk about leaders who are not afraid of this word!

Business Leadership and LoveZac’s words, translated to business, reflects these leaders beliefs and values. We recently listened to the song and reviewed some of the key points in our all-Prophiteer Tuesday Team Meeting (see photo to the right)!  Below is a select list of phrases and themes from the song:

“You get what you give”
“Love one another”
“Not for Fame”
“Understanding”
“Strength = Wisdom”
“Humility”
“Forgiveness”
“Think of the mark you will leave”
“Truth to believe in”

Truly, love is at the heart of being an incredible leader. The proof is everywhere, we all believe it, we all feel it. Can you begin living it in your leadership practices? If you are looking for inspiration, check out our Free E-Book about Love and Respect in Leadership
