Interview with Phil Gwoke: Part 3

Thanks for joining us for the last blog post from my conversation with Phil Gwoke, keynote speaker of our upcoming S.L.O.W. Summit. The event is fast-approaching on Friday, January 26th, 2018 at The Marq in De Pere. We hope you will join us!
We will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a hot buffet breakfast and networking. Then, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. keynote speaker and consultant Phil from BridgeWorks will deliver his presentation: “When Generations Connect, Communicating Across Generational Divides”.
Q: Phil, what can our guests expect of your presentation style?
A: “As a communicator, I use story, humor and authenticity to connect with my audience. BridgeWorks has been researching and delivering content since 1998, so our content is well-vetted. We like to say we are ‘smart, witty and relatable’. I have been a public speaker for over 20 years and there are two things that I have learned to strive for in every presentation. 1) Don’t talk at people. Talk with them. It’s not about me. 2) Have fun. If people are not laughing, they probably aren’t learning.”
Q: How does your message apply to the workplace?
A: “As a leader or hiring manager, people tend to communicate what we would have wanted communicated to us. This often leads to a disconnect that can result in difficulty attracting new hires or new clients as well as challenges in keeping good people or the next generation of potential customers. We help organizations create environments that build on the legacy of the generations before and still create the right incentives for the next generation.”
Q: Why should someone attend the 2018 Servant Leaders of Wisconsin Summit?
A: “Effective leadership requires you to correctly anticipate changes in environment and adapt accordingly. History is full of examples of leaders who had the right message at the wrong time. They are typically used as examples of ‘what not to do’. At this year’s summit, you will be equipped with insights, strategies and best-in-class examples that will keep you ahead of the curve in order to help you decide what is best for your people and your community.”
Q: What is the main takeaway you’d like people to gain from your presentation?
A: “Each generation adds important value to communities and the marketplace. When you understand not only what has changed, but why, you will be better equipped to lead into the future.”
