The Disney Experience in Colorado!

Wednesday, February 8, 2017 - Joe Kiedinger

I love to travel and observe the culture of companies and areas. I recently returned from a trip to Steamboat Springs, CO. Every year I like to ski somewhere I’ve never been before. I made this my goal four years ago. In the last four years I’ve experienced ski resorts in Colorado and Utah.

I have never experienced the customer service from a whole community like I did at Steamboat Springs. I engaged with shuttle drivers, hotel staff, ski resort staff and restaurant staff in this hamlet in Colorado. Wow, everyone took an active interest and sincerely wanted us to have a good time.

Heading back to dinner on a free shuttle (which always took less than ten minutes to arrive once called) my friends and I talked about our next ski vacation.

One of them said, “Ya know, this trip was so easy. Everyone truly cares about us here. I suggest we just make this our destination, why look anywhere else?”

Upon hearing this comment the bus driver started slapping the dashboard of his bus applauding our decision. “We love having you here!”

He was totally aware of our conversation and truly cared about supporting his magical little town.

This is a perfect example of how a community can come together and make a place truly magical focused on a common purpose. Dignify your guests! Make them feel special and important and the money will come. Amen!

Sometimes, all it takes is a little inspiration.

Understanding where others are coming from is critical in communicating and working toward a common cause.
