Spread the Kindness this Christmas
Wednesday, December 17, 2014 - Joe Kiedinger
Well, this is it! We’re down to the wire. The “most wonderful time of the year” is near! While we all rush around to clean our homes for Christmas gatherings, buy and wrap those final remaining gifts, and work to make our holiday the very best it can be—I urge you to add one more thing to that list: serve.
We are, after all, Servant Leaders. So in some small way (or big way…I’ll leave that to you to decide) I ask you to look outside your close circle of family and friends and do a kind deed for someone else. Kindness is so needed! Show a stranger that there is good in this world. And ask them to pass it on.
For you, this gesture might be: paying for someone else’s coffee in line at Starbucks, donating a gift to Toys for Tots, paying off a stranger’s layaway balance at your local store, spending an evening at the local nursing home singing Christmas carols, inviting a lonely neighbor to join your family for a meal, or helping an ill friend wrap presents.
Spend a few minutes today and think of all those around you. What needs do they have? How can your talents help fill those needs?
Action Plan: Spread kindness this Christmas. We’re Servant Leaders and that’s what we’re called to do: serve others. And may all our acts of service have a powerful ripple effect!
